#31plays31days 26 of 31. “Creating a Full Release”

We hear the sound of singing bowls as DR B comes wafting into the view of her webcam.

DR. B

Fruitful day, strangers and friends… Of course, to me, even strangers are friends… And, of course, many of my friends are quite strange…

A meditative gong sounds.

DR. B

My name is Donatella Belladonna, and I am here to lead you though a guided meditation. Together, we are going to create a full release from anxiety, stress and anything that may be preventing you from achieving your goals.

A meditative gong sounds.

DR. B

I am going to start by asking you to join me in lying down.

DR. B lies down and realizes she has moved out of frame, she hefts herself back up with an audible grunt.

DR. B

Or instead sitting up in a comfortable way, such that your back and neck feel supported. If you’re not sure what to do with your hands, you might try resting them at your sides, with palms raised as if in prayerful supplication.

DR. B’s elbows slip off her knees and after a quick attempt to place them there again, she repositions them.

DR. B

Or rest them gently in your lap. Now close your eyes and take a deep breath… In and out… Become aware of your breath… So often it just comes and goes like a self driving car… Well today, you’re going to drive that car… Right now, that is the only thing you have to concentrate on… If you find your mind wandering, just gently push your other thoughts aside and return to your breath… Which reminds me of a bill I need to pay, so let me just make a note of that…

DR. B  reaches finds a pad and pen and scribbles herself a note while keeping her eyes closed.

DR. B

And once again we come back to the breath… Inhale… 2… 3… 4… Hold… 2… 3… Release… 3… 4… 5… 6… And repeat… Feel your body begin to release endorphins as you lengthen your exhale… Now, while continuing to breathe, begin to take stock of your body… Start with your head… Are you feeling any stress there? Breathe into it and then feel it release… Now your neck and shoulders… breathe into them and release… Now your chest and center… Breathe into them and release… Stay with your center… Breathe into it and release…

DR B seems to enjoy this breath, in particular.

DR B

You know what? Let’s stick with that… Keep focusing on the center… Really feel what’s there and breathe into it and release…

DR B continues to enjoy.

DR B

Go deep, deep, deep, deep into the center… Inhale… 2… 3… 4… Hold… 2… 3… Release… 3… 4… 5… 6… If you want, you can move down on to the legs and feet, but I am going to stick with the center… Breathe into them and release… Now become aware of your whole body, as if you’ve been under water and you’re rising to the surface… And as you’re rising, you’re leaving every last bit of stress behind… You’re rising… And rising… And rising…

DR B releases a contented sigh, and opens her eyes.

DR B

Now open your eyes, and give yourself a moment to feel at one with the world around you, prepared to move forward – free of stress, free of anxiety and ready to achieve… all of your goals. Have a fruitful day!

DR B wanders away, having forgotten to turn off her camera.

DR B

I think that calls for a cigarette…

DR B heads out toward her balcony as lights fade to black.
